General
Recimarry is a personal recipe book app that lets you save, organize, and share recipes with friends. Instead of copying and pasting, you simply share a link from YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, or any recipe website and Recimarry automatically extracts the ingredients, instructions, and other details for you.
You can also paste raw recipe text if a URL isn't available, or use the iOS share sheet to import directly from Safari or other apps without switching back to Recimarry.
Recimarry uses a points system. Each recipe import (via URL or text) uses a small number of points. New accounts receive a signup bonus to get started, and guest accounts also receive a small number of free points to try the app.
Additional points may be offered or purchasable in the future. Browsing, organizing, and sharing saved recipes does not cost any points.
Recimarry is available for iOS. You can download it from the App Store. An Android version is coming soon.
No. You can start using Recimarry as a guest without creating an account. Guests can save and import recipes and receive a small points balance to try the parsing feature.
To access social features — adding friends, sharing recipes, and viewing recipes shared with you — you will need to sign in with Google, Apple, or an email address. Your guest recipes carry over automatically when you sign up.
Saving Recipes
Tap the "+" button on the home screen and choose "Import from URL". Paste the link to any recipe page and Recimarry will automatically extract the title, ingredients, instructions, and image.
Yes! Paste a YouTube video URL or an Instagram post URL and Recimarry will extract the recipe from the video transcript, description, and captions. YouTube videos may take a little longer to process than regular web pages, and currently videos longer than 15 minutes are not supported.
Yes. Tap "+" and choose "Import from image". You can select one or more photos — for example, a cookbook page, a recipe card, or a screenshot — and Recimarry will extract the ingredients and instructions automatically. You can reorder the selected images before importing, and pick a target language for the parsed recipe from a dropdown.
Yes. Open any recipe and use the serving adjuster to change the serving count. Ingredient quantities are scaled automatically, including fractional amounts like "1/2" or "1/4".
Yes. Recimarry supports the iOS share sheet. While viewing a recipe page or video in Safari, Facebook, or another app, tap the Share button and select Recimarry from the list. The app will open automatically and begin importing the recipe.
Some websites block automated access. In that case, copy and paste the recipe text directly into the app using the "Paste text" option — Recimarry will still structure it into a clean recipe format.
Recimarry will detect the duplicate and show you a message instead of re-importing and charging points again. You can choose to jump straight to your existing saved recipe.
Yes. Tap "+" and choose "Enter text". Type or paste the recipe content and Recimarry will automatically parse it into a structured format with ingredients and instructions.
JPG, JPEG, PNG, and WEBP are all supported. Maximum file size is 10MB.
Organizing Recipes
On the home screen, use the search bar to find recipes by name, ingredient, or tag. You can also filter by a specific tag or sort your recipes by most recent or alphabetically.
Collections let you group recipes into named folders — for example "Weeknight Dinners", "Desserts", or "Favourites". You can bookmark any recipe (including ones shared with you by friends) into one or more collections using the heart icon.
Yes. Open any recipe and tap the tags section to add or edit tags. Tags are a quick way to categorize recipes and make them easier to find using the filter on the home screen.
Yes. You can add personal remarks to any recipe you own — useful for notes like "add extra garlic" or "halve the sugar".
When you import a recipe, Recimarry will also try to auto-extract any relevant notes from the source (for example, tips from the recipe's author) as a starting point. You can edit or remove them at any time.
Open a recipe and tap the pin icon. Pinned recipes appear in a dedicated Pinned screen so you can jump back to your most-used recipes without searching.
Pinning works on your own recipes as well as recipes shared with you by friends, and is available to guest users too. To unpin, tap the pin icon overlay on the pinned recipe card, or use the clear-all button on the Pinned screen.
Shopping Cart
Open a recipe and add its ingredients to the shopping cart. You can repeat this for any recipes you plan to cook — quantities of the same ingredient are combined automatically.
Yes. The shopping cart can group items by grocery store aisle (produce, dairy, meat, etc.) to make in-store shopping easier. Your grouping preference is remembered between sessions, so you only need to set it once.
Yes. In the grouped shopping cart view, tap a recipe name to open the recipe detail screen.
Yes. Shopping cart is available to guest users as well as signed-in users. When you upgrade from a guest account, your shopping cart items carry over.
Friends & Sharing
Go to the Friends tab and tap "Add Friend". Search for someone by their username and send them a friend request. Once they accept, you can share recipes with each other.
You will need a username set up on your account before you can send or receive friend requests. You will be prompted to create one the first time you sign in.
Open any recipe you own and tap the share icon. Select the friend you want to share it with. They will see it appear in their Shared tab with a notification badge.
Shared recipes appear in your Shared tab. You can view the full recipe including ingredients and instructions. If you want to keep it, you can bookmark it into one of your Collections using the heart icon.
No. If you have bookmarked a shared recipe into a Collection, it will remain accessible even if the original owner deletes it.
No. Friends and sharing features require a signed-in account. Guest users can still save and import their own recipes. Sign up to unlock social features — your guest recipes will carry over automatically.
Points
Points are used to import recipes. Each time you import a recipe via URL or by pasting text, a small number of points is deducted to cover the processing cost. You can see your current balance on the Profile tab.
New registered accounts receive a signup bonus. Guest accounts also start with a small balance so you can try the app without signing up. Additional ways to earn or purchase points may be added in the future.
No. If Recimarry detects that you have already imported a recipe from the same URL, it will show you your existing saved recipe without processing it again and without deducting points.
It depends on what information is available. If the video already has captions or enough description to extract the recipe, we use that directly — no extra cost. But if the captions aren't available or don't contain enough detail, we have to transcribe the video audio to find the recipe, which requires significantly more processing and costs a few more points.
Importing a recipe involves two steps: fetching the content from the source, then extracting and structuring it into a proper recipe. Both steps take time, especially for complex pages. YouTube videos can take noticeably longer because if captions aren't sufficient, we also have to transcribe the video audio before it can be processed.
That said, parsed results are cached across all users. If someone has already imported the same recipe before, you'll get the result much faster — so popular recipes from well-known sources tend to be near-instant.
It depends on why it failed. If the failure was caused by an intermittent server issue (for example, our service being temporarily overloaded), retrying will usually work. However, if the source page or video doesn't actually contain recipe content, retrying won't help — the result will be the same.
No. If Recimarry is unable to extract enough recipe information from the URL or content you provided, no points will be deducted. You only get charged when a recipe is successfully parsed and ready to save.
Account & Data
You can sign in with a Google account, Apple ID, or email address. Signing in lets you access friends, sharing, and keeps your recipes backed up on our servers.
Yes. All your saved recipes, collections, and tags are stored on our servers and tied to your account. They will be available if you reinstall the app or switch devices.
Go to the Profile tab and scroll to "Delete Account". This will permanently remove your account and personal data from our servers. Recipes you have shared with friends will remain accessible to them if they have bookmarked them.
If you have uninstalled the app, to request the deletion of your Recimarry account and all associated data, please email us at smartgroceryassistant@gmail.com. To protect your security, we will send e-mail to your registered email address for verification. Once confirmed, your account and all recipe data will be permanently deleted within 30 days.
Not yet. We plan to include export functionality in a future release.
